Youth and early career

An international team led by researchers from Scripps Research has devised a technique to boost the action of immune cells against tumours. They have found a way of blocking a protein that acts as a kill switch for natural killer cells and that cancer cells use to blunt an attack by those immune cells. In time, the technique could lead to very effective new treatments, the researchers say.
